KS3 ICT

Students are given the opportunity to develop their computer skills including the complete Microsoft Office suite, basic computer programming and the versatility of hardware and software. Students work hard to effectively research and develop their knowledge and fine tune their skills base.

This prepares them for the world of work or further study where software and networks will become commonplace with any job.

Greater emphasis is placed on skills and software which are not used in other subjects by working collaboratively to enable greater development and continued use of all examples of software moving forward.

KS4 – Cambridge Nationals Information Technologies

This course enables students to see technology being used day to day and the practicalities of such, linking in with project management to develop both practical and personal skills.

Students develop their knowledge and understanding of different hardware and software applications and the tools and techniques used to select, store, manipulate and present data. They also explore the various risks associated with the collection, storage and use of data, including legal, moral, ethical and security issues, and how such risks can be mitigated.

Students create a technological solution that processes data and communicates information, following the phases of the project life cycle using different hardware and software technologies to create an integrated technological solution. They develop practical skills such as carrying out a SWOT analysis, creating GANTT charts, developing online surveys, and presenting data through web-based technologies.
