The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 in Work Skills gives students the opportunity to acquire a broad variety of work-related knowledge and skills. This Award complements the learning in other GCSE programmes.
The focus is on the knowledge, understanding and skills required to succeed at work. These include:
• development of key knowledge that proves aptitude in a range of areas, such as literacy, numeracy, IT and communication, health and safety law and how this is applied in work settings, and the benefits of diversity and inclusion in modern work places.
• skills that support effective work behaviour, such as projects where students work in teams to improve their teamwork, the practice writing of CVs and cover letters, rehearsals of job interviews, and a placement at a work setting, which all prepare the students for their step into life after school.
